Oculus Rift / Rift S

Note: This guide assumes you’ve already done the initial set up for your Rift or Rift S. If that is not the case and you’d like a more complete tutorial, follow this link.

Download Zoe

  • Download the Zoe VR App on this page and save it on your PC’s desktop, or in a folder of your choice.
  • Unzip Zoe.zip. Keep the structure of the unzipped folder as-is.

Updating from a previous version

If you have used another version of Zoe on your computer before, you need to either delete or transfer elsewhere all the scenes you’ve previously created. Scene compatibility will be implemented in a future release.

  • Go to C:\Users\{username}\AppData\LocalLow\Apelab\Zoe\Projects to locate the scenes*. Remove all scenes with a .story extension from that folder. You can now launch your new version of Zoe.

*For a more in-depth guide on how to access that folder, click here.

Launch Zoe

Important: if you’ve previously installed another version of Zoe, see the Updating Zoe section above instead.

  • In the folder you’ve just unzipped, open the file ZoeVR.exe. You might see a prompt message from Windows to protect your PC; in this case, click on More info > Run anyway.
  • If asked, choose your graphics preferences (or leave everything by default) and click on Play!. Zoe VR will launch in your headset.

That’s it! Put on the headset and enjoy creating interactive experiences in Zoe!
