Sharing Scenes

Your scenes in Zoe are saved as .story files in a folder on your headset (Oculus Quest) or computer (Oculus Rift, Oculus Rift S). You can rename*, make copies, or share these files between different headsets/computers.

*Note: scene renaming inside the Zoe app will be possible in a future release.

Locating .story Files

Depending on which headset you are using, files will be saved in different locations, described below.

Oculus Quest

Plug in the headset to your computer and follow this path (either from the File Explorer (Windows), Finder (macOS), or using SideQuest:

Quest\Internal shared storage\Android\data\com.apelab.zoe\files\Projects

Here you will find several files, each with a .story extension. These are all your scenes. Locate the one(s) you need, and copy it to any location you want. You can attach it to an email, store it, share or transfer it to another device.

Oculus Rift / Oculus Rift S

Using the File Explorer, follow this path on your PC:
Note: {username} means your own username.

If you do not know how to follow this path, or you find it to be complicated, do not worry! Here is a detailed step-by-step guide:

  • In a File Explorer window, click on ‘This PC’ on the left navigation pane. Go to Local Disk (C:) > Users > then select your user name.
  • Locate the AppData folder. If you cannot find it, don’t worry! AppData is a hidden folder, so you need to press on ‘View’ on the top of the File Explorer window and check ‘Hidden items’.
  • Go to LocalLow > Apelab > Zoe > Projects. Here you will find all the scenes that you saved with a .story extension. They act like any other file. You can attach them to an email, store them, share or transfer them to another device.
